Windy weather keeps firefighters busy

THE windy weather over the last couple of days took it toll on buildings, with roofs loosening and shop signs crashing down on to the street below.

On Tuesday (September 6), a shop sign and a property board in Chapel Road, Worthing, became loose and was in danger of falling.

Firefighters were called to the property at lunchtime to make the signs safe.

Worthing firefighters were also called to the petrol station, in The Boulevard, Durrington, at around 12.50pm after a section of roof came off in the wind.

Luckily builders were on site and helped replace the section of roof.

Lancing firefighters were called out to a similar incident just before 9.30pm on Tuesday (September 6) after a skylight in the roof of a flat in South Street, Lancing, became loose due to high winds.

The roof window in the stairwell was refitted and made safe by the crew.
