A WOMAN and child have been taken to hospital following a fire in a basement flat.
Three fire engines attended the fire in the Lyndhurst Road, Worthing, at 8.46am today. Two breathing apparatus and three hose reels were used to tackle the flames.
The woman and child suffered smoke inhalation and were taken to hospital by ambulance as a precaution.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Firefighters left the scene at 9.44am.
