BUSINESSES in Worthing have signed up to offer a warm welcome to serving or former armed services personnel and their families as part of a national scheme.

More than 50 towns and cities have already signed up to the Heroes Welcome scheme, designed to show appreciation for all members, and former members, of the armed forces acknowledging what they are doing or have done for our country.

Businesses can join up and show their support to the armed forces by displaying a sticker in their window.

The Worthing Town Centre Initiative heard about the scheme from East Worthing and Shoreham MP Tim Loughton.

The first business to sign up for the scheme in Worthing is Andy Sparsis, owner of Food in New Street and The Fish Factory in Brighton Road.

Businesses wanting to sign up to make Heroes Welcome can contact the Worthing Town Centre Initiative on 01903 203252.
