IT might be blowing a gale out there, but that has not dampened the spirits of those enjoying today’s (Saturday, June 16) jubilee Party on the Prom.
More than 4,000 people were expected at the celebratory event, and while some were not willing to brave the wind, there were still plenty who turned up to show their true British spirit.
Many chose to dress in red, white and blue for the occasion, while others baked jubilee-themed cakes and cupcakes and enjoyed picnic spreads fit for a Queen.
Tom Wye, chairman of the working group that organised the Party on the Prom, said: “It’s going great. It’s a bit windy, but there’s a lot more people here than I thought there might be.”
The Dumbleton family, headed by Roy and Diane, were having a great time.
Daughter Christine Brown, 48, of South farm Road, Worthing, said: “They all signed up to do this because I asked them. I think they thought it would be a nice sunny day, but that the wind hasn’t stopped us.
“In fact, it’s been hilarious, and we haven’t stopped laughing. It’s been a great day.”
