A WORTHING day nursery celebrated the opening of its new building by burying a time capsule and receiving a visit from the mayor.

Early Years Childcare in Poulter’s Lane has waited six months for its new extension to be built, which includes a new family room for children aged two to five, a discovery room, office, staff room and kitchen.

Mayor Ann Barlow, assisted by some of the children, officially opened the new classroom by cutting a ribbon.

She then assisted nursery manager Suzie Hawker in burying a time capsule containing plans of the building, poems and drawings done by children at the nursery, and some photos of the nursery team.

The opening was rounded off by tea and cakes, and balloon modelling.

Suzie said: “We’re so pleased the building work is finally over and we can show off our new facilities. It was lovely to welcome the mayor to the nursery and I know the children enjoyed meeting her.”
