DESPITE the wind and rain in the previous weeks, members of Worthing Horticultural Society were delighted with the total of entries they had for their flower show on Broadwater Green.
The show was opened by the BBC Sussex’s gardening expert, Jean Griffin, who said the main judge for the flower, fruit and vegetable classes had told her that many of the sweet pea entries were better than some he had seen recently at national shows.
Anne Locke, publicity officer for the group, said: “There were a large number of visitors during the afternoon and the society is sure that they all appreciated the scent of the flowers and the colourful display they made.
“There were also some excellent flower-arranging displays and a very good amount of entries in the inter-schools competition classes.”
The full list of prize winners and more pictures are in the Worthing Herald, out now.
