WORTHING HOSPITAL: Wayne Green replies
WAYNE Green, of Global Affairs Ltd, sent this response to East Worthing and Shoreham MP Tim Loughton's letter.
THIS reply is in response to the article received and posted on the Herald website last week from Tim Loughton MP, which was his response to an article by the local Labour Party regarding the PCT's decision on Worthing Hospital.
Tim writes about me, Wayne Green, my business and my involvement in the hospital campaign. His article is incorrect of the true facts about these things; it seems he does not have possession of all the correct information, so it is unfortunate and unwise for him to comment on such things in the public domain.
To clarify, I was asked by the consultants to assist with the campaign and went for meetings with them, where we spoke at length, the consultants were aware of my company and CV, Global Affairs Ltd, run by directors, company secretary and a network of associates around the world, including Middle East, Africa, America and China, to correct Tim's "which he failed to mention to the consultants was a one man show with no experience of health care policy".
After funding seemed to be a problem for the consultants, I agreed to assist with helping the Worthing Hospital campaign for free, pro-bono, as I felt very strongly on principle it to be a noble cause for the local people and also that I felt I owed a debt of gratitude to the committed and professional staff at the hospital for all the care I have received from them for my Diabetes.
The consultants were the health care experts, I never claimed to be, but they were aware of the fact, that I do have 16 years of deprivation and poverty issues knowledge and working in this area as a trustee of the national charity, Church Action on Poverty, also that I had previously worked with the PCT on Poverty and Health issues and that I am acutely aware of the inter-relationship of the policies of poverty, deprivation and health.
'His only contribution to the campaign was to speak at one of the meetings on the deprivation issue but then contributed nothing to this part of the case that KWASH put forward', I actually attended three of the public meetings and unknown to Tim I also had meetings with the consultant group, a meeting with the PCT and organised meetings for dialogue for the consultants to communicate with other key individuals.
I also wrote a strategy paper for the consultant group, outlining the case would be best fought on a platform to include deprivation and poverty and advised the construction of a position paper/critical report.
I also highlighted the need of an impact assessment to be included in any consultation.
At all times the values and hard work of KWASH were supported fully and contained in the strategy paper.
I worked quietly in the background for many, many months and was never seeking any acknowledgment of my work, I feel disappointed that Tim has decided to attack me personally in public on this issue, without the full truth, this will only reflect on him in a negative way.
I now consider this matter closed.
