Police have arrested a 39-year-old man from Worthing on suspicion of burglary, criminal damage and drug driving.

The arrest followed an appeal for witnesses from Sussex Police after an incident in St Lawrence Avenue, Worthing, shortly after 3.30am this morning.

Sussex Police said a wall outside one house had been damaged, as had the front door of another property, while an empty Vauxhall was found in the road by officers with the engine still running.

Following a search of the area, police said a man was taken to hospital as a precaution where he remains under arrest.

Detective constable Laura Sinden said: “We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area. Witnesses can email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101 quoting reference 116 of 13/04.”
