PARAMEDICS battled in vain to save a young mother while her son slept in the next room.

Police officers and an ambulance crew were called to Penhurst Court, in Ashburnham Close, Worthing, at 9.30pm on Saturday (October 8) when a relative became concerned.

They forced entry and found the 22-year-old mother unconscious.

Despite the efforts of the paramedics, she died at the scene.

Her four-year-old son was found safely asleep on his bed in an adjacent room.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and the coroners’s officer has been informed.
