WORTHING planners have given the go-ahead for the Half Brick pub in Brighton Road to be converted into flats
Partial demolition of the building will be needed for a 2½-storey extension to provide a total of eight apartments, with nine car parking places and storage for 16 cycles and a scooter.
The planning committee was told the extension deliberately adopted a different style to that of the existing 1874 pub and surrounding properties.
Its contemporary design and style reflected “a modern style appropriate to its coastal position and followed more recent tradition of infill development on Worthing seafront”.
The Half Brick ceased trading in April, 2009, because of lack of custom from local residents.
