Hannah Mitchell, 13, Holly Seacombe, 14, Jonathan Starr, 15, and Hannah Walker, 14, are are four of eight Scouts and Explorers chosen to represent the Worthing district, and must each raise £1,700 to fund their places at the 23rd jamboree. A quiz evening at the 8th Worthing HQ raised £1,000 and the next event on the agenda is a sponsored climb of Mount Snowdon, in Wales, planned for May.

Next year’s World Scout Jamboree will see 3,500 Scouts and Guides from the UK join 30,000 others from around the world in Kirara-hama, Japan, with the theme of the event being ‘Wa’, meaning ‘the spirit of unity’. Explorer Scout leader Paul Chaplain said: “Not only are the Scouts and Explorers busy fundraising, they are also attending West Sussex unit training camps and other preparation activities to make sure they have the skills and knowledge they need for their trip of a lifetime.”
