A MAN cut a mobile phone away from a display in a Worthing shop before threatening staff with scissors.

At about 10.20am on Sunday, March 17, a man entered Carphone Warehouse, in Montague Street, and started looking at phones on display.

He was found by staff to have cut a Samsung Galaxy Note mobile from its display position on the wall with scissors, which he used to threatened two members of staff who approached him.

They were not cut with the scissors and were shaken but unhurt.

The man ran out of the shop with the phone.

The suspect is described as black, between 24 and 30 years old, 5ft 8in, of average build, wearing a dark-coloured deer hunting-style hat, and a black jacket.

He spoke with a London accent.

Detective Sergeant Simon Smith said; “Anyone who saw this man enter or leave the shop is asked to call us via 101 quoting serial 0542 of 17/3. You can also call independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
