Worthing tennis star Lauren gets Asda sponsorship

RISING Paralympic tennis star Lauren Jones has been adopted by a superstore.

Lauren, 15, a pupil at Durrington High School, Worthing, is now receiving funding from Asda, Lancing, to cover the cost of training and equipment.

The Offington teenager and other budding medal winners met sprinting star Iwan Thomas during a visit to St Mary’s stadium, Southampton.

Asda has teamed up with the charity SportsAid for the Sporting Chance initiative aimed at helping young athletes with the best chance of international success.

Previous recipients of SportsAid awards include Roger Black, Rebecca Adlington, Tom Daley, Sir Steve Redgrave, Dame Kelly Holmes, Amir Khan, Paula Radcliffe, Sir Chris Hoy and Beth Tweddle.
