WORTHING town centre was brought to a standstill today (July 10) when a seagull became trapped on a roof.

Firefighters needed to use an area ladder platform to help an RSPCA animal officer rescue a young seagull, which had become trapped on the roof of a building in South Street.

Onlookers gathered as the RSPCA officer scaled the ladder and rescued the bird at about 2.45pm.
