A YACHT owner was left stranded after his boat ran aground on Goring beach in the early hours of this morning (Thursday, September 25).
The owner told beach officers he had been ashore since 1am and endured a long wait until high water at 2pm this afternoon before he could refloat his boat.
It was towed to Littlehampton by the coastguard for further examination.
Graham Cherrett, senior foreshore inspector, said: “We assisted in what he wanted to do in getting the boat off. He couldn’t do anything until high water.
“The boat did not appear to be totally seaworthy and part of the rudder was damaged.
“It is the second one we have had in 18 months.”
The yacht ran aground near Shark Park playground.
The skipper was unharmed.
