A TEENAGE driver has slammed a ‘ridiculous and unfair’ parking fine she received after accidentally scratching off the wrong month on her ticket.
Chloe Gates, 18, of Halewick Lane, Sompting, was in a rush when she made the mistake, but thought she would have no problem appealing the decision.
But Worthing Borough Council refused to lift the charge, despite acknowledging that it must have been an accident.
Chloe said: “I am absolutely furious. It is far to say my opinion of parking wardens has significantly lowered since this incident.
“I respect the reason and necessity for their job, but for them to fine innocent people where it clearly isn’t necessary is quite frankly just ridiculous and unfair.”
A council spokesman said: “Ms Gates was offered an extended discounted charge for a further 14 days following her appeal being rejected.”
