20mph limit: So few wards makes no sense

The proposal to change the speed limit to 20mph on residential roads (but not main artery roads) in Worthing makes a lot of sense.

However, the county council’s apparent plan to consider making this change in only half the town (six of 13 wards) makes no sense at all.

This will cost more to implement and create more confusion for both residents and visitors.

This confusion is likely to result in weakened compliance so the benefit of greater safety may not even be achieved in those areas where the scheme is implemented.

The only sensible way forward with this important change is to implement it across the whole town.
