Ads are too early

Am I alone in feeling slightly uncomfortable that our nation seems to roll out the Christmas advertisements before Remembrance Day?

I’m a mid-50s person and I somehow feel that we could get our young people to engage more in the meaning of poppies etc if we didn’t have it confused by other media/marketing hype.

A few weeks doesn’t make much difference to a company’s marketing campaign but it reduces the opportunities to get people to think about the sacrifices our communities and individuals have made to give us the ‘opportunity’ to celebrate Christmas as we choose in the free world.

As we marked Remembrance Day this week, it was ‘lest we forget’ that should have be the message.
