CAN I, as one of Peter Bottomley’s constituents, use your columns to record my huge gratitude to our MP for his steadfast and consistent reluctance to blow his own trumpet?
After all, only a self-effacing and intrinsically modest public servant would take the time to send to you a letter which quoted the comments of one of his many admirers to thank him for being “ethical”.
Perhaps in the new year the Herald could reserve a weekly space so Peter can showcase the gushing compliments of his fans on a more regular and systematic basis?
Thank you, Peter, thank you.
PS: I too received Christmas cards, many of which wished me “a Merry Christmas”. Can I have your votes, please?
