I AM aware that many comments have been made regarding the possible closure of the Connaught Theatre.
Whilst we can all hold our hands up and blame the council, the people of Worthing and the surrounding area must support the venue by attending performances there.
As an avid theatregoer, I would encourage anyone interested in theatre to support the Connaught’s staging of contemporary drama in its current spring season.
Swimming at the Ritz and The Diva in Me both being performed in the first week of April are two shows I saw at Brighton Dome last year and I am delighted that the Connaught is presenting them.
They are both new pieces of writing by local playwrights and deserve a wider audience. Charlotte Jones, who wrote The Diva in Me, is best known for the West End hit Humble Boy, and this show really deserves a West End transfer.
Let’s encourage great drama to come to Worthing so that we don’t end up having to go to Brighton our Chichester for our culture.
