Different angle

I’m sorry, but not surprised, to hear that Worthing council is finding it hard to recruit staff for crossing patrols outside schools, but they need to look at the problem from a different angle.

Many retired people would be interested in doing this as a ‘job-share’, as having worked all their lives they don’t necessarily want to take up a five days a week job again, and more importantly, one which doesn’t allow them to take advantage of cheaper holidays out of school term time.

If the council were to advertise these posts with some flexibility, I’m sure they would get a much greater response.
