I READ the account of the Ashington car crash in last week’s Herald with a real sense of appreciation for all of those who helped to provide aid to those in the cars.
All clearly played a vital role, but unlike the police, fire and ambulance staff on the scene, Alex and Hannah could so easily have sat in their car and waited for others to act. If we are to reduce the pressure on our emergency services all of us need to be willing to play our part, where doing so is within our skill and does not further endanger ourselves and others. Hannah and Alex did exactly this and deserve a commendation.
I hope that they feel very proud of their actions and have set an example for all of us.
