Few chances to perform in town

I read the article in the Worthing Herald on July 3, with councillor James Doyle proposing that Worthing gets its own bandstand.

I live in Worthing and am secretary for a local brass band, Lancing Brass, and I would love to play in my home town!

Lancing Brass perform throughout Sussex, but we do not have many opportunities to perform in Worthing, due mainly to the lack of a suitable venue. Many other towns have a bandstand, or even two as in the case of Horsham, so why not the largest town in West Sussex?

A quintessential English activity would be relaxing and listening to the band in the park on a Sunday afternoon, and Denton Gardens is the perfect location for such an event. I’m sure local people and visitors alike would agree this is an excellent idea, especially as it involves minimal financial outlay on behalf of Worthing Borough Council. Let’s make it happen!
