Hospital friends

I refer to Shirley Western’s letter “wheelchairs a great help” published on January 24.

I am pleased to say the wheelchairs were funded by The Friends of Worthing Hospitals.

As well as the wheelchairs, during 2012 the friends also funded numerous items to the value of £237,517.26 for the benefit of patients staff and visitors.

Among the items provided were gym equipment for the physiotherapy department, furniture and art work for the new outpatients department, ultra sound system, two new sipap machines for neonatal/paediatrics, a Bardscan portable bladder scanner and various items for the dememtia unit.

In addition, we donated £450,000 for the Cardiac Catheter Laboratory which enabled it to open earlier than planned.

Our CT Scanner Appeal is still ongoing and it is hoped that following a number of events and donations in the coming months, we will be in a position to conclude the appeal.

The Friends of Worthing Hospital is a local registered charity for local people and we do not have any paid fund-raisers. If you would like any further information or would like to make a donation, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
