LETTER: In agreement over parking

How I agree with Barry Ruffel's words in the Herald today (Shoreham Herald, Lancing Herald and online, March 16) regarding illegal parking.

Obviously if one chooses to live in some of the little streets and is a car owner, parking will not be easy.

Residents are very aware of this, but cars are frequently parked, making negotiating corners hazardous. For pedestrians, car, van and delivery vehicles, driving or walking near the Indian Cottage restaurant, it’s extremely hazardous.

Drivers park half on the very narrow pavement both to use the takeaway and for an evening in the restaurant.

Trying to walk home safely recently, I accidentally knocked the wing mirror of a large car parked half on the pavement.

The driver, clutching her takeaway, wound down the window and swore at me.

Since the increase in parking charges and on Sundays, I believe the situation is increasing. How will it be for the town when 132 flats (the building which I now think looks like a hospital) could produce 264 cars, even though some parking will be included?

But, yes, I do agree people need homes.
