MANY heartfelt thanks to the public-spirited person (farmer?) who drove round our estate in Steyning with a tractor and snowplough on March 12 when we were deep in snow.
It is fine for the council to keep the main roads open but if you live at the end of an estate, it is still very difficult to get out after the sort of weather we have recently had.
Editor’s note: In Steyning, Mark Streeter is contracted to clear snow from the roads. The move was made by West Sussex County Council, in conjunction with Steyning Parish Council, three years ago, after Mr Streeter went out of his own accord to clear the streets and it proved very effective.
