Pleasant pheasant

WHAT a lovely picture of the pheasant taken by Alex Vincent (Herald, January 13).

I moved to Rugby Road this year, but previously had been living in West Parade.

I was there for about five years, and as we had a lovely garden, I used to put food out for the birds daily.

Four years ago, I was delighted when a beautiful male pheasant appeared and stayed with us for a week.

This was around September, and again I was delighted when he appeared the following spring, when he again stayed several days.

The next autumn, a female visited us, but I didn’t see the male bird again.

Several neighbours had spotted them on the beach.
