Priceless role

Have your say

Much is being said about midwives in the recent days with their decision to strike.

However, I can give a very recent account of the role midwives play in not only a baby’s wellbeing but also the parents.

Our baby, Arlo Halsey, was delivered by the midwives at Worthing Hospital two weeks ago and we will always be eternally grateful to them for their professionalism, caring and calmness in our hour of need. Without getting too much into the politics, it’s somewhat ironic that it was most probably a midwife who delivered and cared for the same politicians who are denying them a mere one per cent pay increase.

Maybe a moment of pause is needed to see how midwives and doctors are treated and talked about in this dispute.

For me, I owe them the safe delivery of my three beautiful children and that’s priceless.
