Proper negotiation

I FOUND the comments by councillor Alan Rice (Herald letters, January 13) rather surprising.

He suggests his party, the Liberal Democrats, could “broker a deal” between Worthing Borough Council and AMF Bowling.

Firstly, the council and AMF are engaged in a rent negotiation, which will be conducted by both parties in a professional and business-like manner, contrary to the recent speculation.

Secondly, it seems councillor Rice has forgotten about the last time his party were in a position to “broker a deal”. In 2004, they were responsible for handing the town’s car parks over to NCP.

Thanks, but no thanks, Alan.
