IN an age when criticism of young people is all too common, it is heartening to speak of a large group of youngsters who are a real credit to their generation.
On Sunday, February 13, two West Sussex youth orchestras jointly performed a concert of very demanding classical music in the Assembly Hall, under the baton of Worthing Symphony Orchestra conductor John Gibbons.
As we regularly attend Worthing Symphony Orchestra concerts, we are used to hearing live music of an exceptionally high standard, but that performance made us momentarily forget that we were listening to young musicians instead of adult professionals.
Compliments are equally due to the many people who must, obviously, have worked very hard in support roles as teachers, organisers and parents.
