Roundabouts

I have to say that I share the view of George Mansell (Your Letters, July 10), that serious consideration should be given to having a larger roundabout at Grove Lodge.

I would like to see this extended to Lyons Farm and Hill Barn lights.

The acquisition of land from the college, the northern side of Lyons Farm, junctions towards the B&Q car park and the field at Halewick Lane would provide space for reasonable-size roundabouts with carefully thought-out junctions with right turn lanes would surely improve the traffic flow and air quality along the route.

Of course, there are those who think we can just hop on a bus and be anywhere in the town in 20 minutes at a fraction of the cost – £8.40 for two, return from Findon, and no further than the town centre.

A train to Brighton, £21.80. Or, perhaps, get on your bike to get six bags of shopping from a supermarket or take several sacks of rubbish to the tip.

Road transport is essential and increasing and ways have to be found to deal with it for many years to come.
