I WAS sorry to hear that Sussex Musical Productions are switching this year’s performances to the Shoreham Centre (Worthing Herald, July 7).
They have been performing at the Pavilion Theatre for many years, and I suspect that one of the main reasons for their departure is the complete lack of parking facilities near to the pier.
What is required is a service road in front of the pier where drivers can drop off and pick up patrons with a maximum waiting time of, say, five or 10 minutes.
This is exactly what we used to have, coupled with a covered walkway to the Pavilion Theatre. Now, all we have is a large inaccessible area in front of the pier serving no useful purpose whatsoever.
I feel sure that many Worthing residents (particularly elderly) would welcome the return of a drop-off zone especially in wet and/or windy conditions.
Surely this makes sense?
What do other residents feel about the subject?
