So upset at park

Have your say

I was born and brought up in Worthing and married and had my children there, before moving away approx 35 years ago.

I still have family here so come back fairly regularly to visit. I have many fond memories of Beach House Park both as a child and then as a mother, and as I have got older enjoyed visiting with my husband. My last visit with him was a little over two years ago, at the time he was terminally ill and died two weeks later.

One of my very special memories of that visit was taking my husband in his wheelchair and walking round the park with him, his sight was failing but he could still see the bright colours of the flowers and listen to the birds singing, and I have enjoyed going back since I lost him and re-living those memories.

I recently visited the park again and came away in tears.

What has happened to what I have always thought a beautifully kept park and gardens, plenty of grass instead of the flower beds that were there before and a car park instead of tennis courts.

But no colour, no flowers at all except rose bushes not yet in bloom, also more than a few weeds. I am so sad to see the obvious deterioration in the park and even sadder that I will not be able to re-live those memories by visiting it again.
