WERE councillors suckered into approving further dog control orders?
The environmental department has provided me with data that shows that, on average, only one complaint about dog fouling is made in the borough each week.
It has failed to differentiate whether these complaints refer to existing dog restriction areas, the proposed new control areas or other places.
However, there were no complaints in the Goring, Selden and Tarring wards, where four new control areas were proposed.
With the paucity of complaints in other wards where new restrictions have been approved, it appears that these controls are not based on a need to overcome evidence- based problems.
So, were the councillors hoodwinked, or are they just jobsworths, wishing to restrict residents’ enjoyment exercising their dogs?
