‘The invisibles’

Have your say

Some six weeks ago, I placed an advert on a newsagent’s board, asking if any kindly person would be willing to visit an elderly, well-educated gentleman occasionally, as he was a long-stay Worthing Hospital patient.

Sadly, most of his friends are dead and he gets lonely.

Well, I rejoiced at getting seven answers from kindly folk, who asked for details and promised to drop in to see him and chat.

Sad to say, of these seven ‘Good Samaritans’, only one actually visited him. She was a South African Christian lady as good as her word.

Truly, the over-80s really are the invisible generation.
