My wife and I live in a small block of five purpose-built flats in Findon.
When contractors came to fit our water meters, I asked if they needed any advice, they said no and carried on.
When the water company wrote to us to advise us we were now on meters I telephoned to ask how the contractors knew which stopcock serviced which flat.
I was told they had done a survey.
I asked for the registration number of my meter and when I checked I discovered the numbers given didn’t tally.
I phoned the water company again and when they came out to check, it turned out that four out of the five meters were incorrectly installed.
We would all have been paying each other’s water bills!
I wonder how many other blocks of flats have received the same slapdash service?
