FI FIE FO fun is in store for this year's panto goers as Jack and the Beanstalk comes to town.
The Connaught Theatre's Christmas show promises giant entertainment for all the family, starring actress Rula Lenska, Simon Davies (the evil Sheriff of Nottingham in last year's Robin Hood) and, making his debut as the Dame Daisy, the producer of the show, Christopher Lillicrap.

Rula is hoping her appearance as The Enchantress will bring some glitz and glamour to the stage as the tale of Jack and the giant beanstalk is brought to life in comedy and colour.

She said: "A couple of years ago, I said I would never do panto again because I had played all the principal boys and played Wicked Queen three times.

"I never saw myself as a goodie, especially in glitzy pink costumes, as most fairy godmothers are. I said as long as I can play the Enchantress sassy and sexy and more siren-like than the traditional godmother or enchantress, then okay, I will take the part."

Rula was last week appearing on stage in Worthing for the first time ever in the thriller Don't Look Now at the Connaught Theatre.
The actress, who was born in England to Polish parents, has performed in numerous stage and screen parts.

"This is a traditional pantomime and I think panto is terribly important because it is most childrens' first introduction to theatre. Panto is part of the magic of Christmas.

"I'm certainly going to give it my all and this might be my panto swan song," she added.

The panto centres around the story of Jack, who lives with his mum, Dame Daisy. As times get hard and money gets tight, they are forced to sell their beloved cow Buttercup. An old lady offers to buy Buttercup for a bag of beans. Later, the boy discovers the beans are magical and then the fun begins. Will jack defeat the giant? Will there be a happy ending?

Jack and the Beanstalk, presented by The Proper Pantomime Company, runs from December 5 to January 4. Call 01903 206206 or visit www.worthingtheatres.co.uk
