COUNCILLOR Clive Roberts started running only a year ago but next month he will join thousands of others to takes part in the London Marathon.
The Central ward councillor gradually built up his fitness by joining the council's Fit 4 programme of activities after being elected in 2005. And since then he has lost more than two and a half stone.

Last April, he took up running, on the advice of his personal trainer Julia Gleeson, and has been hooked ever since.

Clive, 51, said: "I've done four half marathons and this was the logical progression.

"It will be a challenge, but I think I'm ready and I'm looking forward to it."

Clive's three daughters will be cheering him on from the sidelines.

He is running in aid of the National Autistic Society and hopes to raise more than £1,000 for the cause.
