ORGANISERS of the annual Worthing Rotary Fair and Carnival are appealing to lorry companies to help secure the future of this year's procession.
The lorry firm normally recommended by the Worthing Rotary fair committee has gone into administration.

Members are now looking for an alternative provider of flat-bed lorries which they can suggest to those who enter a float into the annual procession on August Bank Holiday Monday

John Brenton, communication officer for the committee, said: "The integral part of the procession is the floats.

"The company we normally use has gone into administration and that means we need to find other public-spirited lorry owners or hauliers.

"We don't normally interfere with groups looking for floats for the procession, but we do like to be able to recommend a lorry company.

"Drivers from the company normally volunteer their time free of charge and we would like to see if anybody out there is able to help.

"We hope this year's procession will be bigger and better than ever and we are always optimistic, but if we can't find a lorry company to help then the procession might have to take a different form, maybe with everyone walking instead."

Anyone who can help is asked to contact John Brenton on 01903 746865 or email johnbrenton@tiscali.co.uk

The 2008 Rotary Fair and Carnival Procession will be held on Bank Holiday Monday, August 25.

The procession will begin at 1.30pm from Grand Avenue and travel along the seafront to Steyne Gardens.

Keep a look out in the Worthing Herald for more details on the event and for the launch of our search for the 2008 carnival princess.
