AS the clock ticks down to the end of the consultation into the future of Worthing and Southlands hospitals, protesters are gathering tonight for a final stand.
From 6pm Keep Worthing and Southlands Hospitals (KWASH) campaigners will be holding a vigil until 7.15am tomorrow (Wednesday) morning.

They will then walk from the hospital to the West Sussex Primary Care Trust (PCT) headquarters, pushing a bed stacked with petitions, post cards and other documents against the downgrading plans.

They are expected to arrive at 8.15am, ready to hand over their documents to PCT chief executive John Wilderspin.

The consultation closes at 9am.

There is still time to:

• Fax 01903 247591

• Email fitforthefuture@westsussexpct.nhs.uk

• Text message 07824 499266

Worthing campaigners are asking people to back the option which provides consultant-led accident and emergency and maternity services at Worthing and preferably at Chichester, too.

Keep an eye on this website for video and pictures from the vigil and march.
