PROTESTERS arrived at Worthing Pavilion Theatre, the Herald's banner "The Cheapest Patient is a Dead Patient" to the fore.
On the Pavilion steps sisters Jean Herridge, 78, and her sister Nancy Scott, 77, from Findon Valley, were waiting for them, keen to have their support.
Jean said: "We're here because we need our hospital and we need it in Worthing, not miles away."
Marchers entered the Pavilion to find a full-screen video playing on stage, depicting the options available.
There were cheers to the option which would see Worthing continue as a major general hospital, jeers for the rest.
John Wilderspin, the PCT chief executive, took to the stage to a barrage of jeers and cat calls, and there were cheers for MPs Peter Bottomley and Tim Loughton, as well as hospital doctors.
