STUDENTS at Durrington High School served up a tasty treat to teachers when they posed as a catering company and were challenged to host a gala dinner.
Under the guidance of the Money Sense programme and with the help of Karen Wilson, Money Sense coach from NatWest, pupils worked in competing groups to develop a business plan.
They had to make a presentation to tempt their teachers and win the catering contract.
One of the winning teams not only tempted judges with creative culinary delights, but also proved their business acumen by presenting a business plan with a profit of £230.
Sue Marooney, head teacher at the school, in The Boulevard, said: "Money Sense really brings classroom subjects alive.
It is extremely practical and fun for pupils and gives them an insight into the business world and what it takes to run your own business."
Karen Wilson said: "All the pupils worked really hard on their presentations and came up with some great ideas which proved they had great creative flair.
"Developing financial skills amongst young adults is important and will help these youngsters when they have to make financial decisions in future."
