OUTSTANDING gymnasts from Davison High School have been awarded overall first place in a junior competition.
The school in Selborne Road hosted the 2008 junior gymnastics competition for West Sussex last week, with many schools from across the area taking part.

The squad from Davison was selected in late December and started training in January.

Sarah Binney, PE teacher, said: "The girls gave up hours of their own time training before and after school, as well as lunch time with their teachers.

"The girls from Davison were outstanding on the day.

"They looked and behaved very professionally and all of their routines were performed beautifully.

"A very big congratulations to all the girls who took part."

Davison results were: Pair Apparatus, Leah Bladen and Amanda Ginns, 2nd place; pair floor, Bethany Griffiths and Ellie Smyth, 1st place; group floor, Ellie Page, Eleanor Ross, Francesca Turner, Cory Winter, Kerry Bishop and Charlotte Jones, 1st place.

Group apparatus, Jenny Roberts, Charlotte Firth, Madeleine Rogers, Abigail Lelliott, Phoebe Hagan and Emily Moore, 1st place, with the highest score of the day.
