A STORY about living in Nazi Germany has led to a Davison schoolgirl receiving a commendation.
Sophie Brinsmead, 14, penned a story about what life must have been like in Nazi Germany as part of a fiction competition run by the Historical Association.
Out of hundreds of entries from students across the country in years seven, eight and nine, Sophie's was highly commended and she received a certificate.
Sophie, who has just completed year nine at the Selborne Road school, said: "I enjoyed writing my story, even though it took a long time to do.
"I was told about the competition by my teacher, Rebecca Easey.
"The part I enjoyed most was finding Hitler quotes.
"I was both pleased and shocked when I heard my story had been highly commended."
Miss Easey said: "Sophie's story was a very well written and moving tale.
"It had a good plot and excellent historical detail and vocabulary.
"I was especially impressed with her use of quotes from Hitler as chapter headings. She showed really good understanding and empathy."
