ECO-warriors at Downsbrook Middle School have celebrated being presented with a top environmental award.
More than three years's hard work paid off for students and staff at the school in Dominion Road, Broadwater, after they were presented with a Green Flag — the highest eco-schools award.

Teacher Penny Yetman said: "We are thrilled and excited to gain the Green Flag award. Downsbrook's eco-warriors have consulted with the rest of the school over which environmental issues to address."

The eco-warrior team, which is made up of pupils from all year groups, make sure lights and computers are switched off when not being used, doors are closed to keep heat in and they take it in turns to pick up litter.

They make sure all fruit peelings are taken to the school composter and tend to their new organic garden.
