CHILDREN at a Worthing school returned from the summer break to find their main hall had undergone a £20,000 revamp.
Work was carried out throughout the holidays at Whytemead First School, in Dominion Road, to refurbish the main school hall, which is used for assembly, PE, music lessons and at lunchtimes as the canteen.

The work included improved lighting and storage for equipment and the installation of hi-tech acoustic panels to prevent echo in the hall which has high ceilings.

The parquet floor was also restored – by school cleaner Sharyn Ross.

Head teacher Candida Reece said: "We now have a truly beautiful space for children to enjoy. The children think it is great and I am absolutely delighted."

The reception area has also been given a make-over with new seating and a different colour scheme.
