TUDOR ball masks, sea shell poetry, landscapes and miniature chairs were just some of the masterpieces on display at an art exhibition at a Goring school.
Children at West Park First and Middle in Marlborough Road were chosen to display some of their art work at an exhibition during parents' meetings last week.

Roy Finch, head of year seven and curriculum leader for art, said: "The work chosen for the exhibition was the work which best displayed the skills taught and the opportunities the pupils had been given so far this year."

With the younger children, the artwork was inspired by their cross-curricular topic work.

This ranged from houses which transformed to ruins inspired by the children's book A Ruined House by Mick Manning, 3-D vehicles and fantasy islands, and sea shell poetry.

Slightly older children produced miniature chairs and Tudor ball masks.

They looked at the pop art movement and Clarice Cliff's pottery for their inspiration.

Year seven pupils produced landscape scenes in acrylics on canvas to portray the fabled land of Kraznir – a doomed mountainous land in a fictional book they are writing in their English lessons.

Also on display from year seven were contemporary figure compositions in pastel.

The exhibiting artists from year seven included Hannah Rogers, Josie Rhodes, Amy Goacher, Freya Bitten, Tom Brown and Todd Clarke.

Parents and pupils were invited to comment in the visitors' book, with many describing the exhibition as "fantastic".
