Home Champion Award Goes to Parker Meadows Care Home - Gracewell Healthcare

Advertorial Feature

The newly opened Parker Meadows Care Home in Fareham has recently honoured one of its most determined residents.

The Parker Meadows home has only recently opened but in recognition of the bravery and determination of Fareham man, Gordon Farley, he was awarded the Gracewell Healthcare Home Champion 2012 Award following his bravery in combating a serious stroke.

Mr Farley, aged 85 is a local man who used work at Vickers Engineering. At one stage of his illness Mr Farley was so ill that he was unable to get out of bed but this is now a thing of the past and thanks to his determination and hard work, Mr Farley can now move about in a wheel chair.

Commentating on The Home Champion Award, Mr Farley’s daughter, Linda said:

“We can see just how happy dad is to win. When he was given his prize we saw that it was the old dad again.

“He’s done incredibly well to recover as much as he has so far, it’s wonderful to see - this has been such a lovely day for him, to see him smiling and having fun.”

Mr Farley was given the award from a shortlist of three other Parker Meadows’ residents who were recognised as a result of their positive contribution to the home. Their individual carers nominated all the finalists and talking about the award, Gracewell Healthcare Chief Executive, Peter Curtis said:

“Our carers wanted to acknowledge the lives of the incredible people who live in Parker Meadows.
“Gordon is a well deserving winner, as are all our finalists. His determination to get stronger so that he can see his family again has moved everyone here at the home and it’s for that reason that he was crowned the winner.”

Gracewell Healthcare provides luxury care homes in the UK. Four homes have already opened throughout the country and nine are set to open in 2013. The homes aim to give the residents the highest standards of care combined with attention to detail and the individuality of their residents.
Peter Curtis added: “We respect that every individual and the best care experience for them is unique.”

Parker Meadows has a sensory garden especially designed for those suffering from dementia and can also provide gardens where those who have green fingers can continue to enjoy their passion. The aim of the home is to allow its residents to fulfil their sense of fun and enjoyment in a luxurious and beautiful environment.

Parker Meadows is also proud of its sense of community and has built up strong links with its local school, Redlands Primary, which provided the name for the home.
