Kadiri looking to net prize in BBL dunk contest

Kadiri Richard

Kadiri Richard

Worthing Thunder Basketball Club’s Kadiri Richard will compete in the British Basketball League dunk contest in Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena on Sunday.

The contest will be an exciting warm-up to the BBL Cup final between the Newcastle Eagles and the Leicester Riders and international fixture between England and Ireland.

It will be the third time Richard has been involved in the dunk contest - He was a runner-up to Milton Keynes Lions’ Guy Dupuy in 2010, when representing Thunder, and won it the following year with Newcastle.

Richard said: “I’m really looking forward to the dunk contest. This will be the third time I’ve taken part and afterwards I get to support my old team-mates, Joe Chapman, Fab [Fabulous Flournoy], Darius and everyone else at Newcastle and I hope they reclaim their BBL Cup, with no disrespect to a really talented Riders team.”

The order of play for Sunday begins with England vs Ireland at 12:30pm, followed by the dunk contest at 2:30pm, with Newcastle’s game against Leicester tipping-off at 3:45pm.
