A fifth success of the season for Broadwater now sees them open up a 47-point lead at the summit over Ram.

Despite being so far clear at the top, skipper Nigel Waller just wants his team to take each game as it comes.

He said: “It was another really good performance from us on Saturday.

“Crawley Down are a good side but we did well in every department.

“It was the first time we have batted first in a match all season, so to get the win batting first was pleasing.

“Both Graham Merritt-Blann and Graham Waller batted well, while everyone impressed with the ball.

“Our first aim at the start of this season was to better last year’s league finish and we look like doing that.

“We are just going to take each game as it comes and keep enjoying our cricket.”

Iago ripped through Down’s top-order to put Broadwater in the driving seat.

Steve Morley (33), Barker (six), Ward (nought) and Stuart Simmonds (four) all fell to Iago as Down were in trouble.

Liam Lindsay ended unbeaten on 62 but he failed to find anyone to stay with him and his side were all out for 160 in the end.

As well as four wickets each for Iago and Merritt-Blann, Bob Reynolds took one in a comprehensive win.
